Lucasfilm has officially confirmed that its Disney Plus series Andor is getting a second season, with the first one set to premiere in August.

Back in February, Stellan Skarsgård spoiled that the upcoming Cassian Andor series is getting another season from Disney Plus. Lucasfilm confirmed the news during this year’s Star Wars Celebration, announcing that production on season two is scheduled to kick off this Fall, with Tony Gilroy back at the helm.

The first season of Andor consists of twelve episodes, with Diego Luna reprising the role of the titular rebel spy that was first introduced in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It’s set five years before the events of Rogue One. Season two is expected to explore the four years that follow.

Stellan Skarsgård’s Star Wars Role Has Been Revealed

At the event, Lucasfilm also revealed that Stellan Skarsgård’s Andor role is that of a rebel leader, describing his character as a “huge part” of the series. His character is named Luthen and the first photo of him can be seen below.

Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor was last seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Here is the synopsis for the film:

Former scientist Galen Erso lives on a farm with his wife and young daughter, Jyn. His peaceful existence comes crashing down when the evil Orson Krennic takes him away from his beloved family. Many years later, Galen becomes the Empire’s lead engineer for the most powerful weapon in the galaxy, the Death Star. Knowing that her father holds the key to its destruction, Jyn joins forces with a spy and other resistance fighters to steal the space station’s plans for the Rebel Alliance.

Directed by Gareth Edwards from a screenplay co-written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy based on a story by John Knoll and Gary Whitta, Rogue One stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker.
