Ms. Marvel Iron Man Kevin Feige MCU

Kevin Feige limited the role of Iron Man in the upcoming MCU series, Ms. Marvel.

In Marvel Studios’ newest series Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) is shown to be a massive fan of the Avengers – especially Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). Naturally, any fan of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, especially in a post-Thanos (Josh Brolin) world would have nothing but love for the late Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), and would honor him in any way possible.

Actress Iman Vellani revealed that in real life, she’s a massive fan of Iron Man. So much so, that she was asking for more references to the fallen Avenger in Ms. Marvel. However, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told the creative team to tone down the references:

“I’m a huge, huge Iron Man fan. I know Kamala is more Captain Marvel, but I was very much asking for more Iron Man references in there. Like, ‘I think she needs an Iron Man action figure, more Iron Man.’ There was a point where we got to too much Iron Man, that was the note from Kevin!”

No disrespect to Iron Man, but ultimately, Ms. Marvel idolizes Captain Marvel above any other Avenger in the lineup. It’s understandable why Kevin Feige would want to tone down any Iron Man reference. After all, the character’s death has left a significant impact on the ongoing MCU, and some would agree that too many references to him would distract from the new characters and stories that are currently being established.

Here is the synopsis for the new MCU series:

Marvel Studios’ “Ms. Marvel” is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?

The upcoming MCU series Ms. Marvel stars Iman Vellani, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Fawad Khan, Mehwish Hayat, and Farhan Akhtar.
